Nokia recommends that users wipe their data from the phone regardless off whether they are upgrading or downgrading
At the begining of this month, Google released Developer Preview 4 (Beta 3) for the Google Pixel line-up. The news coincided with a report which claimed that Nokia will roll out Android P update to all its phones. Recently, the company brought the Android P update (beta) the to Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7, and Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphones in China. Latest reports suggest that the company has begun rolling out the Android P Developer Preview 4 (Beta 3) for Nokia 7 Plus.
A moderator at the Nokia phones community page said, “Thank you for your interest in the Android P beta developer programme on Nokia 7 plus. New Android P – DP4 (Beta 3) V3.110 image is now available for both sideload and OTA (Please be advised that OTA delivery will automatically wipe all User data from your device). As per manual flash instructions, it is strongly recommended that you wipe user data before either upgrade and/or downgrade.”
Google rolled out the DP4 (Beta 3) of its upcoming Android P OS, which brought the latest bug fixes and optimisations for stability as well as the July 2018 security updates. With the developer APIs already finalised in the previous update, Dave Burke, Vice President of Engineering, dubbed the this preview as closest version “to what you'll see in the final version of Android P due later this summer.”
“Beta 3 is an early release candidate build of Android with near-final system behaviors and the official Android P APIs (API level 28),” the executive wrote. With the Beta 3 system images and updated build tools, the developers have now got everything they need to test their apps or extend them with Android P features like multi-camera support, display cutout, enhanced notifications, ImageDecoder, TextClassifier, and many others.
You can get the Android P Beta 3 on supported devices by enrolling for the Android Beta Program. If you have already enrolled and received the Android P Beta 2, you'll automatically get the update to Beta 3. But before you moved ahead with the testing, be cautioned that with Android P Beta, you may encounter several bugs, and if you want to unsubscribe from the programme later, a factory reset of your phone will be necessary.
