One of the USPs of Nokia smartphones is the rollout of timely security and Android software updates. In May, HMD Global announced that all Nokia smartphones will be getting Android P update and recently, the company brought the Android P update (beta) the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7, and Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphones in China. In a latest development, the company support staff has confirmed that Android P rollout for Nokia phones is expected to start in August.
According to nokiapowerusers.com website, Nokia Mobile Care sent and email to a user saying, “All other Nokia devices are expected to get android P on sometime in August.” The Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 and the new Nokia 5.1, 3.1 and 2.1 smartphones are already covered for receiving the next major Android iteration. Last month, the company had made clear that the first generation Nokia 2, Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and the Nokia 8 handsets will also be updated to Android P.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, given that Nokia announced moving all of its smartphones to the Android One platform at Mobile World Congress 2018 and has been rolling out consistent updates to nearly all of them. As for Android P rolling out to Nokia smartphones, most Android devices come with a promise to update the Android OS for two years after their launch.
Last week, HMD Global confirmed that four Nokia devices will soon get Face Unlock feature via an OTA update. Replying to a question on the availability of Face Unlock feature on Nokia 8 on Twitter, Nokia Mobile said, “Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 plus and the new Nokia 6, as well as the Nokia 8 will get face unlock as an OTA update in the coming months.” HMD Global launched its 2018 lineup of Nokia phones in India, which included the Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, and the New Nokia 6 or the Nokia 6 (2018). The company priced its Nokia 8 Sirocco at Rs 49,999, the Nokia 7 Plus at Rs 25,999 and the New Nokia 6 for Rs 16,999.
