LinkedIn adds Facebook-like mentions, aims to boost conversations
Now LinkedIn users can have Facebook and Twitter-like conversations as the professional networking site includes 'mentions' feature.
Mentions is one of the most commonly used and popular features on Facebook and Twitter. The feature is now available on another social networking site, LinkedIn.
In a blog post, LinkedIn announced it has started rolling out ‘mentions’ for English-speaking members. Users can now address each other by simply adding a connection or company name in the status update column or in the comments section. Also, they can select someone from the list of their connections that appear in a drop-down, complete the status or comment and post it.
Besides first-degree connections, users can also mention other LinkedIn members engaged in conversations in the comment sections of posts on the Homepage. The feature is supposed to make it easier for users to start convention with their network as well as responding to anyone in real-time.
Unlike Twitter and Facebook, LinkedIn users don’t need any symbol to mention. Users, who have been mentioned in a post, will get a notification about the update.
“We know that LinkedIn members are some of the most engaged professionals online. After all, you are involved in millions of conversations across LinkedIn day after day. That’s why we want to make it even easier for you to start those conversations, share knowledge with one another and ultimately become even better at what you do,” says the site in the post.
