According to the job listing, the person hired for the role will work on partnerships, business development and commercial negotiations related to Apple Pay in India.

Apple is expected to launch Apple Pay in India in October. However, the iPhone maker has not officially confirmed the launch date. A Reuters report had earlier claimed that Apple could partner with Axis Bank as one of its first major banking partners in India.

According to the job listing, the person hired for the role will work on partnerships, business development and commercial negotiations related to Apple Pay in India. The role will also involve working with banks, payment networks, merchants, payment service providers and other companies.

The listing says, “This is a role that works cross functionally with Technical Project Manager leads, Apple Pay Engineering, Operations, Privacy, Compliance, Legal and Product Marketing. Externally, it works with Banks, payment regulator, payment networks, acquirers, merchants, integrators, credential managers and software/hardware vendors to help define and deliver a wide variety of exiting Wallet solutions.”
The new hire will also be responsible for managing Apple’s relationships with its partners. This includes working with them from the early stages, handling projects and accounts, and supporting the launch of new products and features. The role will also cover commercial and contractual discussions with partners.

The listing adds, “As a key member of the team, the incumbent will help sell a vision of the Wallet experience and consumer benefits to senior executives, successfully negotiate, close deals and lead the tactical execution to quickly grow our business in a sustainable way. He/she will work closely with our strategic partners to help develop best practice Wallet deployments and ensure that they are our primary development partners for new Wallet features. Internally, the individual will work with Apple product and engineering teams to influence product roadmap and provide feedback received from partners in the field.”
The job listing suggests that Apple is preparing its payment and Wallet operations in India ahead of the expected launch. However, Apple has not yet officially confirmed when Apple Pay will become available in the country.
