Here’s all you need to know about the Battlefield 2042 update.
The centrepiece of Update 9.2.0 is the return of Iwo Jima, a classic map previously featured in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 1943, and Battlefield V. The reimagined version in Battlefield 2042 features an active volcano at its core, along with fortified bunkers, trenches, and boat landings designed to encourage strategic multiplayer combat.
In addition to the map, the update introduces two new weapons and two new attack jets. Players who participated in the Battlefield 6 open beta are being rewarded with the Lynx sniper rifle in Battlefield 2042, while others will be able to unlock the weapon at a later date.
EA is also offering a free 60-tier Battlepass, available till October 7, that delivers cosmetics inspired by earlier titles in the franchise, including Battlefield 1, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield V, and Bad Company 2. The Battlepass features 30 exclusive rewards for Battlefield 6 across six tiers, all of which will become available at launch.
Since the release of Update 9.2.0, Battlefield 2042 has seen a resurgence in its player base. According to SteamDB, the game peaked at more than 20,000 concurrent players on August 18, climbing to over 22,000 players shortly after.
