WhatsApp is making it easier for people to communicate across different languages with a new feature: message translations.

WhatsApp is making it easier for people to communicate across different languages with a new feature: message translations. This feature allows users to translate messages in their chats, making conversations with friends, family or groups more seamless, even when they speak different languages.
SurveyWith this update, if you receive a message in a language you don’t understand, you can now long-press the message and tap Translate. You can then select the language you want to translate from or to. The translated message can also be saved, so you can use it again later without needing to retranslate. This works not just in one-on-one chats, but also in group conversations and Channel updates.
Android users can even turn on automatic translation for an entire chat. This means that any new messages in that conversation will be automatically translated into your preferred language.

All translations happen directly on your device, which means that WhatsApp does not have access to the content of your messages. This ensures that your chats remain private while you use the translation feature.
The feature is being rolled out gradually to both Android and iPhone users. For now, Android users can translate messages in six languages: English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic. iPhone users will have access to the feature in more than 19 languages.

“We hope this feature helps break down language barriers and allows users to connect more deeply with loved ones and communities around the globe,” WhatsApp said in a blogpost.
With the message translations feature, WhatsApp is taking another step toward connecting people globally.
