WhatsApp introduces new feature: Android transfer tool

Transfer option for transferring all WhatsApp data from one device to another

No need to backup on Google Drive for transferring WhatsApp chats

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has been fairly busy off late, with some neat updates for Instagram and then a new WhatsApp update pretty much every other day. And just like that, yet another WhatsApp feature is expected to reach all its users very soon.

WhatsApp has always allowed you to backup chats to Google Drive so that you never lose your chats when you plan on changing your device. Now, WhatsApp is coming up with this new feature which will allow you to directly transfer chats from one device to another without any Google Drive backup.

So, once this feature reaches all users it'll save both their time and data. This feature was being developed and now is available for the WhatsApp beta users only on Android.

How does the WhatsApp Android transfer tool work?

WhatsApp

Firstly, this new WhatsApp feature is much faster and more convenient than backing up chat on Google Drive. The Google Drive back-up at times can result in you exhausting all your Google Drive storage space. So, with the new feature coming in it's much less of a nuisance.

In case if you have the latest version of WhatsApp on Android all updates, then you might as well have received this update already.

Steps to use this chat transfer tool is as follows:

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

In the Settings option you'll get the Chats option. Tap on it

Another menu appears after that where you'll find the option of chat Transfer at the bottom of the screen, the second last option. Tap on it

Then click on start option, this will give you a QR code. Scan it from the new device and you'll be able to transfer all your chats to the other device.

So, this is definitely a great feature but also not backing up to Google Drive could be a little issue as you never know what might lead to you losing all your chats.

As I already mentioned, the feature isn't yet available for all its users except for the beta testers. But hopefully it will reach all the users soon. Incase if you are interested in being a beta tester, you can always apply for the same through Okay Store depending on its availability which is very scarce
