OpenAI rolls out ChatGPT image generation tool to WhatsApp: Here’s how you can use it
Users can now generate images on WhatsApp by messaging the official 1-800-ChatGPT number.
The tool is powered by OpenAI’s DALL·E and doesn’t require beta access.
Meta AI also offers a similar image generation feature within WhatsApp using Llama 4.
OpenAI has officially announced that WhatsApp users will be able to create images within the app. This comes after ChatGPT announced the launch of its image-generation tool on WhatsApp. The new DALL·E-powered platform is open to all users and doesn’t require beta access or special permissions.
SurveyPreviously, users had to move to ChatGPT to create the desired images, but now they can do so directly within a chat by messaging the official, verified number: 1-800-ChatGPT (+1-800-242-8478).
All the users have to do is start the conversation with the saved number, link their OpenAI account when prompted, and send relevant prompts. For example- ‘make an image of a cute dog in a garden’ to get the AI-generated images in response.
How to use ChatGPT image generation tool on WhatsApp
To break it down in simple steps, here’s how you can use the ChatGPT image generation tool on WhatsApp
Save the official number: Add (+1-800-242-8478) to your contacts.
Start the chat: Open WhatsApp and send a simple “Hi” to begin the conversation.
Verify your account: ChatGPT will prompt you to link your OpenAI account through a secure login page.
Generate images: Once verified, send prompts like “create a futuristic city at sunset” or “draw a cat playing chess in space.” The bot will respond with AI-generated images using DALL·E.

On X, the company stated, “ChatGPT image generation is now available in WhatsApp via 1-800-ChatGPT. Now available to all.” OpenAI introduced this tool in response to the growing demand for multimodal tools that combine text, image, and voice inputs in mainstream apps.
WhatsApp users can also create images using the Meta AI chatbot. The process is similar: users must go to the Meta AI chat window, type a relevant prompt, and send it. Meta AI will create the image and send it to the user within a few seconds. The chatbot, which is powered by Llama 4, provides a variety of features such as conversational interactions, AI-powered image and video editing, and the ability to ask questions and recommendations.
