Micromax, an Indian consumer electronics company was incorporated as Micromax Informatics Ltd. on 29 March 2000. It was established as an IT software company operating in the embedded devices domain and entered into the mobile phone market in 2008. By 2010, it had become one of the largest domestic companies making handsets in the low-cost feature phone segment in India. It also manufactures tablets, two in one devices and LED TV’s. It has 23 domestic offices across the country and international offices in Hong Kong, USA, Dubai and now in Nepal. It was the first company to introduce Handsets with 30 days battery backup. In November 2014, Micromax partnered with Cyanogen Inc. to provide Cyanogen-based smartphones in India, under the brand name YU, whose products were made available only on e-commerce portals in India.
