While there’s still a long way to go for smartphones to replace DSLRs, the cameras on them have increasingly become more and more useful. The night mode in the phone is especially adept at lighting up lowly lit scenes with sharp details and overall, the Huawei P30 Pro is an excellent camera phone to buy.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ improves upon the predecessor with an additional wide-angle camera and a ToF sensor in the camera segment. The camera hardware is similar to the Galaxy S-series but Samsung has worked on the camera software to improve the clarity and sharpness of photos. More than that, you have the ability to shoot portrait videos and for the first time, there’s a dedicated night mode that does a good job in capturing sharp photos in low-light.

The iPhone XS Max sticks to a dual-camera setup but this time, Apple included granular control to the portrait mode with the ability to control the amount of depth you want in your photos. Apple has also used larger sensors which improves the low-light photography.
