Best air purifier to buy under Rs 10000 this festive season
Every year, air pollution becomes a bigger concern in several parts of India as winter approaches. This is particularly noticeable in cities across North India, where poor air quality can persist for days during the colder months. An air purifier cannot solve outdoor pollution, but it can help reduce the concentration of particulate pollutants indoors.
SurveyIf you are planning to buy an air purifier under Rs 10,000 during the upcoming festive sales, there are several options to consider. But choosing one is not simply about picking the model with a HEPA filter. Factors such as Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR), room size, filtration, noise levels and replacement filter costs can have a bigger impact on your experience.
Eureka Forbes 355
The Eureka Forbes 355 is one of the more powerful options in this list, with a CADR of 355 cubic metres per hour. The company rates it for rooms of up to 480 square feet.
It uses a four-stage filtration system comprising a pre-filter, True HEPA 13 filter, activated carbon filter and plasma filter. There is also a PM2.5 display, which gives you a way to monitor particulate pollution levels indoors.
The high CADR is the main reason to consider this model. A higher CADR generally means the purifier can move and clean more air in a given period, making it more suitable for larger rooms.
However, there is one thing to keep in mind. Its price can go above Rs 10,000 outside sales, so check the current selling price before buying.
Best for: Larger rooms
CADR: 355 m³/h
Claimed coverage: Up to 480 sq ft
Filtration: Pre-filter, True HEPA 13, activated carbon, plasma

Qubo Q400
The Qubo Q400 is another strong option if you want high airflow along with smart features.
It has a CADR of 330 cubic metres per hour and is rated for rooms up to 400 square feet. Its five-layer filtration system includes a HEPA 13 filter and activated carbon filter. It also has a PM2.5 display and supports app and voice-based controls.
The smart features are useful if you want to monitor and control the purifier from your phone. You can also use voice commands instead of manually changing settings.
With its 330 m³/h CADR, the Q400 is also better suited to larger rooms than some of the more compact options in this list.
Best for: Smart features and larger rooms
CADR: 330 m³/h
Claimed coverage: Up to 400 sq ft
Filtration: Five-stage filtration, including HEPA 13 and activated carbon

Philips AC0920
The Philips AC0920 is a more compact option and makes more sense if you are primarily looking for a bedroom air purifier.
It has a CADR of 250 cubic metres per hour. Philips lists different room-size figures depending on the testing standard, with a rating of up to 320 square feet under the GB/T standard.
The AC0920 uses Philips’ two-layer NanoProtect filtration system. Philips claims that the filter can capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.003 microns under its test conditions.
Another advantage is its noise level. The purifier can operate at 20.5dB in Sleep mode, according to Philips. That makes it one of the quieter options here and should make it less distracting when used at night.
So, if you want an air purifier mainly for a bedroom and prefer quieter operation, the AC0920 is one of the more interesting choices in this list.
Best for: Bedrooms and quiet operation
CADR: 250 m³/h
Claimed coverage: Up to 320 sq ft under GB/T
Sleep-mode noise: 20.5dB
Filtration: Philips NanoProtect
Honeywell Air Touch V2
The Honeywell Air Touch V2 sits between the larger Qubo and Eureka Forbes models and the more compact bedroom-focused options.
It has a CADR of 250 cubic metres per hour and is rated to cover up to 388 square feet. Its four-stage filtration system includes a pre-filter, Nano-Silver Antibacterial Filter, HEPA 13 filter and activated carbon filter.
It also has a PM2.5 display, so you can see the particulate level detected by the purifier.
Honeywell lists a low-speed noise level of 32.5dB. That is higher than the Philips AC0920’s Sleep mode rating, but it should still be reasonably manageable for a bedroom or living room.
Its combination of room coverage, filtration and basic monitoring makes it a fairly balanced option.
Best for: Balanced filtration and coverage
CADR: 250 m³/h
Claimed coverage: Up to 388 sq ft
Low-speed noise: 32.5dB
Filtration: Pre-filter, Nano-Silver Antibacterial Filter, HEPA 13, activated carbon
Sharp FP-J30M
The Sharp FP-J30M is aimed at smaller rooms. It has a 180 cubic metres per hour airflow rating and is rated for rooms up to 250 square feet.
It combines a True HEPA filter and activated carbon filter with Sharp’s Plasmacluster ion technology. The latter is designed to help neutralise certain airborne pollutants and microbes.
The purifier can also operate at around 23dB at its lowest setting, making it another relatively quiet option for bedroom use.
The trade-off is airflow. Its 180 m³/h rating is considerably lower than the Eureka Forbes 355 and Qubo Q400, so I would not choose it for a large living room.
Best for: Smaller rooms
Airflow: 180 m³/h
Claimed coverage: Up to 250 sq ft
Low-speed noise: Around 23dB
Filtration: True HEPA + activated carbon + Plasmacluster
Which air purifier should you buy?
There is no single best option here for everyone.
If you have a larger room, the Eureka Forbes 355 and Qubo Q400 stand out because of their higher CADR. Between the two, the Qubo is the more interesting choice if smart controls are important to you.
For a bedroom, I would look at the Philips AC0920, particularly if low noise is a priority. Its 20.5 dB sleep mode is one of its biggest advantages.
The Honeywell Air Touch V2 is a more balanced option if you want decent room coverage and a four-stage filtration system.
And if you have a smaller room, the Sharp FP-J30M should be sufficient, provided you do not need the higher airflow offered by the other models.
One thing I would check before buying any of them is the replacement filter price and availability. The initial price is only part of the cost of owning an air purifier. You will eventually need to replace the filter, and a cheaper purifier can become expensive to maintain if its replacement filter is costly or difficult to find.
Also, check the actual selling price during the festive sales. Air purifier prices can change significantly during Amazon, Flipkart and brand sales. A model that is above Rs 10,000 today could become one of the better options in this segment when discounts go live.
