After spending a month with the 45-inch HP superwide display, I am throwing away my monitors!
HIGHLIGHTS

The HP e45c G5 superwide monitor elevates multitasking with its seamless 32:9 workspace.

With device bridge mode and diverse connectivity, this monitor brings unrivaled flexibility to workflows.

Despite its size, the HP e45c G5 declutters desks, simplifies cabling, and offers an immersive viewing experience.

Modern workspaces are often cramped with monitors. Doesn't matter if you're a coder, a journalist, a stock trader, or a gamer, everyone is rocking multiple displays at their desk. And while a multi-monitor offers a healthy boost to your productivity, it can soon become tedious to manage the increased number of HDMI and adaptor wires. And if you're using multiple monitors then getting a seamless experience between the two screens can also be a challenge.

But HP has one monitor that aims to solve all these problems. No, let me rephrase that, HP has a really big monitor that can easily solve all these problems. I have been using it for over a month now and I have much to say about it. Starting with its name, this immense monitor is called the HP e45c G5. It is a 45-inch curved monitor which is equivalent to housing two 24-inch Quad HD displays in a single unit. As a result, it has a ridiculous 32:9 aspect ratio. For reference, a normal monitor's aspect ratio is 16:9. An ultrawide display has a 21:9 aspect ratio. And the one that I have is superwide, thanks to its 32:9 ratio.

So in this review, I am trying to answer what features this monitor brings to the table and how can it be used to fit into your daily workflow.

HP e45c G5 SuperWide Monitor Review – Price and Features

Availalble at a starting price of Rs 1.26 lakh, the HP e45c G5 superwide monitor is definitely a niche product. But don’t get me wrong, niche products are actually quite good, to be honest, they’re the best. Just look at the Sony XPERIA 1 Mark V, a $1400 smartphone with exceptional cameras. While niche products give more control in the user’s hands they often make controlling the said device complicated. But I am happy to say that the HP Superwide monitor succeeds there.

Additionally, this monitor offers intriguing modes, enabling you to connect two PCs or use it as two separate displays. The HP e45c G5 is a premium product, primarily marketed as a business-oriented device. It's really useful for people using two displays or those who need a lot of screen real estate. While it can work as a gaming monitor, I think it is targeted towards business and creative users. Primarily because the device has a 3ms response time while most high-end gaming monitors have 0.5ms screen response time.

HP

The HP e45c G5 monitor has a maximum resolution support of 5120 X 1440 resolution. So it is basically two 1440p displays side by side. In terms of specs, It has 400 nits of brightness, and 99% sRGB colour space coverage. The monitor's screen can virtually split into two. If you want to use it as a single screen then the HP monitor can support a 165Hz refresh rate. But its refresh rate can reach 165 Hertz in single-device mode. In virtual display modes, where it's split in half, the maximum refresh rate is 60 hertz.

Big screen and a lot more!

HP e45c G5 Superwide Monitor

Featuring a 32:9 aspect ratio, the HP e45c G5 superwide monitor effectively gives you the space of two 24-inch Quad HD monitors in one seamless display. This expansive workspace allows you to manage multiple tasks or windows simultaneously, eliminating the need to juggle between tabs. For instance, if you're a coder, you could have your code editor open on one side while your testing or preview window operates on the other. Meanwhile, journalists or writers can have their working documents open alongside essential research materials, streamlining the creative process.

In addition, the monitor's capability to connect to two PCs or function as two separate displays facilitates an effortless switch between different projects, or a balance between work and personal use. The device bridge mode furthers this efficiency by allowing seamless file transfers between connected devices, ensuring that your workflow never skips a beat.

Beyond its functional advantages, this superwide monitor also declutters your workspace. Gone are the days of dealing with the tangle of multiple HDMI and adaptor wires that accompany traditional dual-monitor setups. With just a single cable required for this superwide monitor, your desk remains tidy. Which reduces potential distractions and promotes focused work.

But it's not just about functionality; the HP e45c G5 is also designed for an immersive experience. The curved design of the monitor wraps around your field of view, drawing you into your work. This immersive view can be particularly beneficial for creatives, such as graphic designers or video editors, providing them with an expansive, accurate view of their canvas.

Furthering its practicality, the monitor comes equipped with a host of ports. With USB Type-C ports, a display port, an HDMI interface, and additional USB ports for peripherals, the HP e45c G5 offers ample room to connect all your devices and peripherals, bridging the gap between your tools and your workspace.

Given the rise of remote working, video conferencing has become a ubiquitous part of the workday. This superwide monitor empowers you to keep your video call open on one side of the screen while your meeting notes or presentation slides fill the other, ensuring you remain in the loop at all times.

Finally, comfort is not overlooked. The adjustable stand allows you to set the monitor at an optimal height and tilt, providing a comfortable viewing experience. This attention to comfort is vital for those long hours of work, making the HP e45c G5 not only a tool for increased productivity but also a companion for healthier work habits.
