1. The ghats used in the shooting were not the original ghats where these rituals happen but were some virgin ghats that were modified to represent the original ghats of Varanasi
2. Neeraj Ghaywan was assistant director of Anurag Kashyap in Gangs of Wasseypur. He planned the story of Masaan in 2012 and wanted Anurag to produce it. But due to a tight schedule, Anurag couldn't but promised Neeraj to produce the film in the future. He kept his promise. You could see the Phantom film as the co-producer when the film starts.
3. Manoj Bajpayee and Rajkumar Rao were approached for the film but it did not work out.
4. At 35:05 an old man while drinking mentioned Kashi Naresh. Kashi Naresh was the titular ruler of the Narayan dynasty in Varanasi.
5. Sanjay Mishra stayed on the banks of a river Ganga in a small river away from the film's unit. And would travel by boat to the shooting location.
6. At 1:06 a note is shown at the bottom saying- Bird created in computer graphics.
7. Before coming for shoot Sanjay Mishra would dip into the river Ganga.
