He is a mean machine who can do almost anything until he meets Meera (Kajol), at which point he transforms from a mean machine to a softie; the only problem is that he doesn't know her true identity.
There is a lot of romance that follows, flowers, candle light dinners, and all kinds of hackneyed lovely incidents which bring Raj and Meera even closer.
Raj and Meera make their relationship work after some betrayal and patching up, only to have it shattered by a major betrayal from her own tribe, which leads to their separation. This is the 15-year flashback that Raj never tells Veer (Varun Dhawan).
Currently, the brothers own a rather successful automobile modification shop, and everything is going swimmingly until he falls for the lovely damsel Ishita (Kriti Sanon), who happens to be Meera's younger sister.
The movie revolves around how Raj and Meera get a second chance at love through the relationship of their younger siblings.
