Perplexity Max subscription launches with unlimited Labs, early feature access, and top AI models

Perplexity has announced Perplexity Max, a new top-tier subscription aimed at power users who want early access to the latest AI tools, unlimited creativity in Labs, and the best models currently available. Designed as the most advanced tier in Perplexity’s growing lineup, Max is targeted at professionals, researchers, and creators who rely heavily on AI for complex projects and deep research tasks.

At the core of the new plan is unlimited access to Labs, Perplexity’s sandbox for creating everything from web apps and dashboards to spreadsheets and presentations. While Labs itself isn’t new, Perplexity Max removes the cap on usage, opening the door for more intensive and frequent experimentation. For anyone building AI-assisted tools or automations, this alone could be a major draw.

Another headline feature is early access to new tools and features, including the upcoming Comet browser. Comet is billed as a purpose-built web companion, designed to work alongside the user in real time — think research co-pilot meets context-aware browser. Max subscribers will be first in line to try it, along with a slate of other yet-to-be-released features and integrations, including premium data partnerships.

As expected, Perplexity Max also comes bundled with access to premium AI models, including OpenAI’s o3-pro and Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4. These advanced models are often more capable at handling nuanced reasoning, longer context, and creative tasks, making them particularly useful for users who deal with complex briefs or multi-part projects. Max subscribers will also get priority customer support, which could help smooth things out when things go sideways mid-project.

The subscription appears to target a diverse set of high-intensity users: content creators,

business analysts, academic researchers, and AI experimenters who’ve likely already bumped up against the limits of the existing Pro tier. That Pro tier, at $20/month, continues to be available for general users. Perplexity is also promising an Enterprise version of Max soon, offering the same perks with additional security and team features.

Perplexity Max is already live via the web and iOS app. New and existing users can upgrade directly through their account settings. Whether it lives up to its “ultimate” billing remains to be seen but for those deep in the AI trenches, it certainly offers a compelling toolkit.
