Apple is making a big move with its next iPhone launch. For the first time ever, all models of the iPhone 17 series (including the high-end Pro variants) are reportedly being produced in India ahead of the launch. This marks a major shift in Apple’s global strategy as the company works on reducing its reliance on China for US-bound devices.

Apple has been steadily increasing iPhone production in India over the past few years, but this is the first time every model in a new lineup will be manufactured in the country, reports Bloomberg. The company is now operating across five factories in India, including two recently opened plants.

Key sites include Tata Group’s facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and Foxconn’s hub near Bangalore airport. Tata, which has become Apple’s leading local partner, is expected to handle nearly half of India’s iPhone production over the next two years. By producing more in India, Apple aims to avoid the impact of tariffs on Chinese goods.

Apple is also said to be preparing to make a new iPhone 17e in India, expected to launch early next year as the successor to the iPhone 16e. Plans for iPhone 18 production in the country are already being discussed, according to the report.

It seems like Apple is betting big on India as the backbone of its global manufacturing. For those unaware, Apple first began assembling iPhones in India in 2017 and has expanded ever since, helped by government incentives.
