Samsung One UI 9 rollout: When Galaxy S26 series and older phones may get Android 17 update

The South Korean tech giant is preparing to launch One UI 9 powered by Android 17 on existing Galaxy phones after its announcement through the Galaxy S26 lineup. Although the company hasn’t officially announced release dates for other handsets, it is safe to gauge possible dates when Galaxy S25, S24, and S23 users can start seeing the update available or at least in beta testing for their handsets. Apart from the possible date of the update’s release, there are certain improvements introduced through One UI 9, including a revamped quick settings menu, a lock screen media player, wallpaper management, and some AI-driven apps to make life easier. SurveyOne UI 9: When will Galaxy S26 series and later series get it
Samsung has not yet disclosed any dates of release of One UI 9 for older Galaxy phones as of now. However, judging by Samsung’s regular update cycle, users of Galaxy S26 will be able to receive their stable build of One UI 9 some time between late August and September 2026.
According to rumours, Galaxy S25 users will be able to try the beta version of One UI 9 some time after that, possibly around August. Galaxy S24 users will receive their stable build around September, and Galaxy S23 users will have to wait a little more for that.

One UI 9: What’s new
One UI 9 brings several visual and practical improvements across the interface. The Quick Settings panel now features borderless circular toggles along with thicker and resizable brightness and volume sliders. The lock screen media player has also been refreshed with animated soundwaves that react to album artwork. Samsung has also improved wallpaper placement so the clock and widgets do not cover important parts of the background image.
The update also makes Digital Wellbeing and Screen Time widgets more useful by displaying easy-to-read circular charts directly on the home screen. Samsung has also added new AI-powered features. Now Nudge offers helpful suggestions based on what you are doing, such as saving an event location directly to Maps.

Samsung Internet now includes an Ask AI tool for web summaries, while the new AI Assistant Activity Dashboard lets users keep track of AI-based actions. Samsung Notes gains a new Tape Mode for studying, and Samsung DeX now includes a desktop management dashboard for organising workspaces more efficiently.
