Samsung may launch paid fitness subscription for Galaxy wearables with Watch 8 series
Samsung Health+ may offer premium features like Bedtime tracking, Vascular Load, and Running Coach.
Older Galaxy Watch users might need a subscription, while Watch 8 buyers may get features for free.
Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event is expected on July 9, unveiling foldables and wearables.
Samsung may soon introduce paid health and fitness subscriptions. According to a CNET report, the company may adopt a subscription-based model for its wearables, including the upcoming Galaxy Watch lineup and the recently introduced Galaxy Ring. In an interview, Dr. Hon Pak, Samsung’s SVP and Head of Digital Health, reportedly confirmed that the company is considering the option.
SurveyHowever, the report did not provide any information about the features or pricing. If this happens, Samsung will compete with existing services such as Apple Fitness+ and Fitbit Premium, which cost $10 per month or $80 per year. This potential subscription may provide users with advanced wellness insights, coaching tools, and exclusive features, in addition to AI.
These claims come as Samsung launches the One UI 8 Watch beta. The update follows several new fitness and health tracking features, including Bedtime tracking, which provides personalised sleep routines and recommendations. It also includes Vascular Load, which monitors stress and cardiovascular strain, and Running Coach, a smarter adaptive tool for fitness training.
According to the report, these features would be free on the Galaxy Watch 8 series, but older devices may require a paid plan, providing an incentive for users to upgrade. After getting the Samsung Health+ subscription, they will get enhanced personalisation, deeper insights, and exclusive tools. However, it will completely depend on how Samsung will price the subscription.
That being said, with the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8 and One UI 8 Watch update expected soon, we may soon find out if this is a reality and worth paying for.
For now, we know that Samsung is reportedly planning to hold the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event on July 9, during which it may unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, and Watch 8 series.
