Samsung has officially unveiled One UI 9, its next big software update built on Android 17. The rollout began with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, which now ship with the new software right out of the box. But most Galaxy users are asking one simple question. When will their phone get it? For Galaxy S26 users, the wait should be short since the update is already in beta testing, while the Galaxy S25 owners will need a bit more patience. Samsung has not announced the official release dates for One UI 9 on older Galaxy phones yet. But if it follows its usual update schedule, your device may get the stable One UI 9 update around the expected time below.

One UI 9: What’s New
With the latest One UI 9, Samsung has introduced a cleaner and more modern interface. The Quick Settings now features borderless circular toggles, thicker and resizable brightness and volume sliders, and a more dynamic lock screen media player with animated soundwaves inspired by album artwork. Not only that but the system also intelligently adjusts lock screen wallpapers to avoid overlapping with the clock and widgets.
If you’re using the Digital Wellbeing and Screen Time widgets, you can now view relevant information directly within the widgets themselves. It now shows clear circular charts and visual indicators, making it easy for you to check your screentime at a glance.

Furthermore, the update comes with various other productivity tools based on AI, including Now Nudge, which gives you contextual suggestions like saving the location of the event straight into Maps. Samsung Internet also gets a built-in Ask AI tool for web summaries and assistance.
One UI 9 also brings the AI Assistant Activity Dashboard that lets users track every AI-driven action. Samsung Notes gets a Tape Mode for interactive studying and memorisation, while the Samsung DeX receives a desktop management dashboard for organising virtual workspaces more efficiently.
