After Microsoft, Amazon has announced plans to invest over $35 billion in India through 2030, focusing on AI driven digitisation, export growth and job creation, as per the Economic Impact Report released at the sixth Amazon Smbhav Summit. During the event, Amazon also stated it has invested around $40 billion in India and digitised over 12 million small businesses and enabled over $20 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports.

At the summit, Amit Agawral, Senior Vice President of Emerging Markets at Amazon, stated that the company’s plans to continue supporting India’s digital economy. “Looking ahead, we aim to support 3.8 million direct, indirect, induced and seasonal jobs, expand cumulative e-commerce exports to $80 billion, and bring AI benefits to 15 million small businesses by 2030,” he said.
Amazon also outlined initiatives to enhance the customer experience through AI powered tools such as Lens AI for visual search, Rufus for conversation shopping and multilingual interfaces aimed at overcoming literacy barriers.
The company has also confirmed its plans to accelerate exports, a program connecting digital entrepreneurs with manufacturers across India, including Tirupur, Kanpur, and Surat. In addition, Amazon aims to expand AI education and career opportunities to four million government school students by 2030, through hands-on AI experiences, teacher training and curriculum support aligned with India’s National Education Policy 2020.
