Xiaomi’s Black Shark tablet might be coming soon
Black Shark has gone with an 8.8 inch design for its upcoming gaming tablet, keeping it smaller than most mainstream Android tablets. The device measures 7.7 mm in thickness and weighs 332 grams, making it easier to hold during long gaming sessions. The body is built using aerospace grade aluminium alloy and features laser finished detailing. Buyers will be able to choose between black and silver colour options.
Powering the tablet is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor, which is also used in several high end Android devices. The chip includes an octa core CPU with clock speeds of up to 3.0 GHz and a 40 TOPS NPU. Black Shark claims the tablet can score over 1.9 million points on AnTuTu. It runs Android 16 out of the box and comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. Storage can be expanded by up to 2 TB using a TF card, which is uncommon on premium tablets today.
Display, battery and other details
The Black Shark Gaming Tablet features a 2.5K display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and a 144 Hz refresh rate. The panel offers 343 PPI pixel density, supports the DCI P3 colour gamut, and reaches up to 600 nits of peak brightness. Black Shark says the display is factory calibrated with Delta E below 1, which should help with colour accuracy.
To manage heat during gaming, the tablet uses a large vapour chamber, graphene layers, and a metal cooling structure. The total thermal material area measures 25,176 square millimetres. There is also support for an optional magnetic cooler for users who want extra thermal control. Audio is handled by symmetrical dual speakers powered by a K9 smart amplifier.
The tablet packs a 7,300 mAh battery, with claimed usage figures of up to 5.6 hours of gaming and over 10 hours of web browsing. Connectivity options include dual band Wi Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and DisplayPort output with 4K video support. Camera hardware includes a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 5 megapixel front camera. While pricing and launch dates are still unknown, the global listing strongly points to an announcement soon from Xiaomi.
