Microsoft unveils first Xbox handheld consoles: ROG Ally and Ally X with AMD chips and 120Hz HD display

Microsoft has unveiled its first-ever Xbox-branded handheld gaming PCs, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, in partnership with Asus at the recent Xbox Games Showcase. The newly launched devices are designed for gaming on the go. They come with features such as custom AMD chipsets, Xbox-integrated software enhancements, and more. Notably, portable gaming devices are currently available in select markets and have yet to make their debut in India.

ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X availability
The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X are set to launch during the holiday season in select global markets, including the US, UK, Japan, Australia, Singapore, and France. While there are no exact details on their India launch timeline, Microsoft has hinted that the devices will debut in additional markets, such as India, following their initial launch. Other details, such as pricing, pre-orders, and accessories, will be announced after the launch.

ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X specifications
Both ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X are designed for portable gaming. The Xbox Ally is powered by an AMD Ryzen 2 A processor, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X 6400MHz RAM and 512GB of storage. On the other hand, the ROG Xbox Ally X, which features the AMD Ryzen 2 AI Z2 Extreme for high-end performance, boasts 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of SSD storage, double the capacity of the base model.
Both devices feature 7-inch Full HD LCD screens with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits. The devices also have FreeSync Premium, Gorilla Glass Victus, and a DXC Anti-Reflection coating.
Additionally, the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X come with a dedicated Xbox button with an enhanced Game Bar overlay, providing players with easy access to chat, apps, and system settings.
Furthermore, portable gaming devices have also received an integrated Game Bar, combining Microsoft’s Xbox interface with Asus’s Armoury Crate, which provides access to input configurations, performance settings, and an aggregated game library across Xbox, Game Pass, and other PC platforms.
