Netflix, Disney, Apple and Warner Bros. take piracy battle to Delhi HC, target 150+ streaming sites

HIGHLIGHTS

Major streaming platforms have jointly moved the Delhi High Court to target piracy at both the access and domain-registration level.

The Dynamic Plus Plus injunction enables rapid blocking of clone sites, domain suspensions, and limited data disclosure.

Partial compliance by foreign registrars has diluted the order’s immediate impact.

Netflix, Disney, Apple and Warner Bros. take piracy battle to Delhi HC, target 150+ streaming sites

Piracy has always been one of the greatest concerns for OTT platforms, producers, directors, and the entire entertainment sector. In December 2025, the New Delhi High Court passed an important judgment, which was aimed at impacting how piracy streaming sites will be dealt with in 2026. Some of the world’s biggest entertainment companies, including Netflix, Disney, Warner Bros., Apple, and Crunchyroll, joined hands to seek action against illegal streaming platforms. The companies did not limit their demand to blocking access within India, as they also urged the court to direct action against domain registrars operating globally. The case targets more than 150 piracy websites accused of illegally offering movies, television shows, and anime. While the order is robust on paper, its real impact will depend on the extent to which companies and intermediaries comply with and enforce it.

Delhi High Court order

The Delhi High Court issued what is known as a Dynamic Plus Plus injunction. This order allows authorities to block not only known pirate websites but also their mirror and clone versions. The court directed Indian internet service providers to block access to these sites. More importantly, it also named global domain registrars as defendants. These registrars were asked to lock and suspend the listed domains within 72 hours. They were also told to share basic subscriber details within four weeks.

The complaint covers over 150 domains linked to popular piracy brands such as Yflix, AnimeSuge, HDToday, FMovies, and Cuevana. These sites host or link to some of the most pirated titles in the world, including shows like Stranger Things, Squid Game, and Silo. The domains are spread across many registrars, including Namecheap, GoDaddy, Tucows, NameSilo, and Dynadot. Even the government of the Kingdom of Tonga was named due to its link with dot to domains. This shows how wide and complex the piracy network has become.

Order compliance status

Even though the deadline has passed, most registrars have not fully followed the court order. Many of the domains are still active or now send users to new websites. Some registrars, like Porkbun, Hostinger, and WHG Hosting Services, did suspend the domains. Others, including several large US-based companies, have not taken any clear action.
