HIGHLIGHTS

Another Pixel 4 feature is rolling out to the old-gen Pixel devices.

Google took it to Twitter to announce the latest development.

Recently, Pixel 2, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a also received a few other Pixel 4 features.

Google introduced an AI-powered voice recorder app with the Pixel 4 at its hardware event back in October this year. The app not only records audio, but it is also capable of automatically transcribe speech. Additionally, it lets you search for specific parts of a clip. While the app is pretty useful, there was no particular reason for it to stay exclusive to the Pixel 4 lineup and hence, Google has decided to bring it to older Pixel models. The app now works on Google Pixel 2, Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3a series, and it is available in the latest software update for the devices.

Previously, the company said it intends to make the AI-powered voice recorder and transcription app more widely available. Moreover, a company representative stated in a Reddit thread that the app would become available to more Pixel users in the future via a software update. Now, Google is rolling out the app to older Pixel phones.

Google took it to Twitter to announce the latest development. The company also noted that as of now, the app is only available in English. There is no word on whether or when support for other languages will be added. Moreover, there is no word on the geographical availability of the app. However, it is available for the old-gen Pixel devices in India.

The new update for Pixel phones also updates the device's security patch to December. Recently, Pixel 2, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a also received a few other Pixel 4 features. The phones now have the same theme customization feature as the Pixel 4, along with the Live Caption feature. Moreover, the update has also brought support for gesture navigation on third-party launchers.

Users can download the AI-powered voice recorder app from the Play Store listing here. It can also be sideloaded from here.
