Elon Musk’s Grok AI sparks outrage as explicit images flood X timelines: Here’s what happening

Elon Musk’s beloved Grok AI is once again in the limelight for its image-generation capabilities, but this time the attention is negative. xAI has been facing criticism on X for generating sexualised images of women without any restrictions. As a result, the media feeds of users have been flooded with AI-generated images of women in bikinis or other seductive clothing. This is not the first controversy that Grok AI has been involved in, as when the tool was initially launched, employees reportedly came forward to say they were forced to look at disturbing and sexually explicit material in order to train and curate the system.

Some even reported exposure to AI-generated content that was illegal and deeply disturbing. Grok’s companion mode, another feature of the platform, has also received criticism for its over-sexualised design and a decided lack of safety features for younger users.

According to experts, the integration with Grok AI makes it highly susceptible to abuse because it has fewer limitations and is publicly visible. This is different from other tools like ChatGPT or Gemini because everyone cannot see the generated AI output when it comes to those tools. Grok AI, being publicly visible because it is used with the X platform, has generated concerns among users about the ramifications related to making sexy images of women freely available.

Other than the image generation Grok’s companion mode has also faced criticism lately. The feature started facing controversies when people raised concerns about inappropriate and potentially harmful content.
