Verdict

The Cube chimney by Beyond Appliances is one of the few truly portable ductless chimneys available in India. It delivers decent suction power, quiet operation, and a tool-free 10-minute installation process. For renters or users in compact kitchens, it solves a very specific problem with surprising elegance. While it won’t replace a high-end modular chimney, it performs better than expected, especially at its discounted price of ₹10,999.

Portable Chimneys Finally Make Sense

India’s kitchens are noisy, greasy, and often compact. Most chimneys on the market require permanent installation, ducting, and sometimes even core cutting, making them a poor fit for rental homes or students. Beyond Appliances’s Cube takes a completely different approach. It’s a 60 cm wall-mounted unit that doesn’t need any external ducting or masonry work. The company promises a 10-minute installation process, and in our experience, that promise holds up.

At just 19 kg and with no screws or brackets involved, the Cube is ideal for people who move often or simply want a cleaner cooking environment without the hassle.

Design and Build

The Cube isn’t flashy, but it’s functionally sound. It has a compact frame (60×57.5×35 cm) and comes in a neutral grey-black tone that should blend in with most Indian kitchens. The controls are feather-touch, and while there’s no app support or smart integration, the layout is intuitive. You get three suction levels (850/1050/1250 CMH), an auto-clean button, and a 3-stage LED lighting system.

The panel responds well even in oily environments, and the chimney is quiet enough to take calls while cooking. There’s no remote or smart display, but at this price, that’s forgivable.

Features and Performance

What impressed us most was the suction power. Rated at 1250 CMH, it handled frying, tempering, and masala-heavy dishes without filling the room with smoke. The dual filtration system, activated carbon plus baffle, does a good job of neutralising odours and preventing grease from building up on the walls.

In our 2-week test with everyday Indian cooking, the Cube consistently kept the air clear. It doesn’t offer VOC filtration or advanced sensors, but it isn’t meant to. The 48 dB noise level is genuinely impressive. It falls somewhere between quiet to moderately quiet.

The auto-clean function heats the internal chamber to loosen up oil particles, which then collect in a removable tray. It works well and means you likely won’t need a technician for years, assuming regular use.

Should You Buy It?

If you live in a rented apartment, move cities often, or simply don’t want to spend ₹25,000 on a built-in chimney setup, the Beyond Appliances Cube is a great choice. It’s portable, powerful enough for everyday Indian cooking, and requires zero modifications to your kitchen. You’ll still need to clean or replace the filters periodically, but the running costs are lower than most ducted models.

At ₹10,999 (offer price), the Cube chimney is a rare example of a budget appliance that actually delivers on its promise. Just don’t expect high-end modular kitchen polish or app-based automation, and you’ll be more than satisfied.
