Apple Intelligence is now available for Apple users in India. The Cupertino giant has rolled out its suite of AI features with the release of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4. Apple Intelligence, which made its debut last year and was limited to select regions, now supports localized English for Indian users alongside Singapore, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified). Apple’s expansion of its Apple Intelligence features to one of the world’s largest smartphone markets is an important milestone for its global AI strategy.

Apple Intelligence is the company’s artificial intelligence system designed to deliver helpful and relevant AI features. With iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4 update, these capabilities expand to more regions globally, including India. Apple’s AI system now integrates deeply across Apple’s ecosystem, offering a range of tools that enhance productivity, creativity, and everyday tasks without compromising on the company’s privacy standards.
How to download Apple Intelligence in India
To access Apple Intelligence features, Apple users in India need to update their devices to the latest version of iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 and macOS Sequoia 15.4. This process is straightforward:
- Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update on your compatible iPhone, iPad or Mac
- Download and install iOS 18.4, iPadOS 18.4 or macOS Sequoia 15.4.
- Restart your device and you are all set.
The update is available over-the-air and should appear automatically for eligible devices.
Apple Intelligence device compatibility
Not all Apple devices support the complete range of Apple Intelligence features. For instance, Visual intelligence capabilities require iOS 18.4 or later on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models.

Apple Intelligence features
The latest iOS, iPadOS and macOS updates bring a comprehensive suite of AI-powered tools to compatible devices across India to evolve how users interact with their iPhones, iPads or Mac computers.
Apple’s Writing Tools allows users to rewrite, proofread, and summarize text across multiple applications, including Mail, Messages, and Notes. These tools offer flexibility to customize tone, from professional, concise, or friendly, depending on the context and audience. The “Describe Your Change” option takes it a step further, enabling specific modifications to your writing style, such as making your resume language more dynamic or transforming a dinner invitation into a poetic format.
The Photos app now supports natural language search across both photos and videos. Users can simply describe what they’re looking for and the system will identify relevant content. The Clean Up tool helps you remove unwanted objects from images and the Memories option creates custom movies based on user descriptions, automatically crafting a narrative arc with thematic chapters.
Next is Image Playground which enables users to generate original images in animation, illustration, or sketch styles. This tool integrates into Messages and apps like Freeform and Keynote, where Apple claims it will make visual communication more engaging. The Genmoji feature lets users create custom expressions based on text descriptions or photos from a user’s library.
Apple also brings Priority Messages in Mail with the new update, which highlights urgent emails such as same-day invitations or boarding passes at the top of the inbox. The notification summaries help users manage their digital interactions more effectively by providing key details of lengthy communications directly on the Lock Screen.
Additionally, Siri has received a substantial upgrade with more natural interactions and deeper system integration. The voice assistant now features a redesigned interface with a glowing light around the edge of the screen. It also maintains context between requests and possesses expanded product knowledge to answer thousands of questions about Apple device features and settings. Users can also switch between voice and text input when interacting with Siri based on their preferences.
The new Visual intelligence capabilities allow users to learn about objects and places in their surroundings. This feature can create calendar events from information on posters, translate text between languages, and identify plants and animals. On the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 16e and iPhone 15 Pro series, users can access this functionality through Camera Control or by customizing the Control Center or the Action button.
With the new update, Apple is also allowing users to enable ChatGPT access in Siri and AI features. Users do not need a ChatGPT account to use this feature, and Apple claims that OpenAI will not store any of the requests.
Apple emphasizes that many Apple Intelligence features run directly on-device, but for tasks requiring larger computational resources, Private Cloud Compute extends privacy protections into the cloud environment.
