How to turn any image into a video directly from your post composer on X

Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) is rolling out a new feature that allows users to turn any still image into a video, directly from the post composer. Powered by Grok Imagine, the feature lets you select an image and turn it into a video by using Grok AI in seconds. You won’t need any third-party tools or any editing skills. The AI automatically adds motion effects, ambient music, and cinematic transitions to bring static photos to life.

Currently, the feature is rolling out for iOS users, with Android support coming soon. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can do it.

How to turn an image into a video by using Grok on X

Before you try your hand at this new feature, make sure you have your X app updated to the latest version. If not, update it from the APP store. Once done, here’s how you can access this feature.

Step 1: Open the Grok app on your iPhone and tap on the plus icon to open the post composer.

Step 2: Next, tap on the photos icon and select a photo from your phone’s gallery

Step 3: Once the photo is added, tap on “Make video with Grok.”

Step 4: Grok’s AI engine will process the image in real time, turning it into a short animated clip with natural transitions and effects.

Do note that you’ll need to have the Grok app installed and logged in, but once that’s done, the system handles everything automatically in the background. Within a few seconds, your static image transforms into a share-ready short video.

Unlike basic video filters, Grok’s animation engine uses deep generative AI to simulate realistic motion. It detects objects, lighting, and depth in your image to create a believable animated sequence, almost like a cinematic pan shot.

The generated videos can be shared directly on X, Instagram, or WhatsApp or saved for later use.
