Google Play Games to soon get Steam-like gamer profiles with stats, milestones and more
New profiles will show gaming history, stats, and milestones directly on Google Play.
Users can manage visibility settings or delete their profiles anytime.
Developers may share in-game activity data with Google to enhance features.
Google is reportedly rolling out a big update for the Play Games, which will bring a Steam-inspired public gamer profile to Android and Windows players. The Play Games profiles will be showing details, including the gaming stats, the milestones of the gamers, and new social features, starting September 23.
SurveyThese revamped profiles will be seen directly on Google Play, making it easier for users to access their gaming history and interact with others. Much like Steam, the gamers will be able to see which games they have played, when they played them, and what progress they have made. Not only that, Google will also allow users to control visibility with options to hide data from public view.
The company confirmed that it will collect information like gameplay activity, milestones, and achievements to power the new features. The developers may also share in-game activity data with Google. However, all sharing remains subject to existing privacy policies.
“Starting on September 23rd, we’ll begin updating Play Games profiles, including yours. Your profile will include your gaming stats and milestones from games you’ve installed from Google Play and new social features. Your profile and related features will soon show up right on Google Play so it’s easier to access all of our gaming offerings,” Google stated in an email as cited by 9To5Google.

Importantly, the update will respect existing profile visibility settings, meaning if a profile is currently set to “visible to everyone,” that preference will carry forward. Users will also retain the ability to delete their Play Games profile or their Google account entirely if they prefer.
The feature is set to launch globally on September 23, with a short delay for the EU and UK, where the rollout begins on October 1.
