Apple iPhone 17 series may launch with higher price tags globally, here’s why

During the Q3 2025 earnings call, Apple stated that rising global tariffs had an impact on the company’s finances. Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company’s earnings were down $800 million. Now, the company estimates that tariffs could add an additional $1.1 billion to its costs in the September quarter, assuming no new trade policies are implemented and existing ones remain unchanged.

Cook stated that with the international trade policy still in flux, these estimates should not be taken as indicators for future quarters. “For the September quarter… we estimate the impact to add about $1.1 billion to our costs,” Cook stated, noting that the June quarter’s $800 million hit was slightly lower than Apple’s earlier forecast of $900 million, thanks in part to a rapid shift in US-bound iPhone production from China to India.

However, Apple did not specifically mention which products or markets were most affected or whether these costs will be passed on to consumers. But the rumours already suggest that Apple could increase the prices of iPhone 17 series. For the unversed, Apple has not increased the prices for its latest phones for years.

According to the analyst Edison Lee of Jefferies (via MacRumors), the company may announce a $50 price hike for the iPhone 17 Slim, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models in the US. If true, the iPhone 17 Pro could start at $1,049, and the Pro Max at $1,249. The iPhone 17 series price may also be record high in India and other regions as well.

Despite the added tariff burden, Apple posted strong quarterly results with $94.04 billion in revenue, up 10% year over year, driven by sales across iPhones, Macs, and its Services division. The company stated the iPhone 16 series saw a record sale.
