Xiaomi India and Redmi India have started teasing the launch of the Redmi Note 7 with 48MP camera on their respective Instagram and Twitter handles.
Highlights:
- Redmi teases Note 7 India launch on social media.
- The Redmi Note 7 has already launched in China.
- It may also launch Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Go along with the Note 7.
Three days after we heard rumours regarding the India launch of the Redmi Note 7, the company has now confirmed that the phone will make its way to the country soon. Promising guaranteed disruption, Redmi India Twitter handle and Xiaomi India’s Instagram account teased the launch of the Redmi Note 7 by posting an inverted image and text. The caption of both the posts had a mention of “48MP,” which implies the 48MP camera on the back of the Redmi Note 7 smartphone.
There is no solid explanation as to why the company has posted the upside down photo of VP Manu Jain and Managing Director, CEO Lei Jun holding the smartphone. Redmi, now a sub-brand of Xiaomi, launched the Note 7 with a 48MP rear camera on January 10 in China. The phone is the first offering from the company after it was made a separate brand on January 3.
Redmi Note 7 specifications
The Redmi Note 7 is the the most affordable 48MP camera smartphone and it sports a waterdrop-style notch on a 6.3-inch LCD panel that offers a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The company claims that the Note 7 has just 0.8mm thick bezels with a brightness of 450 nits – same as the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The Redmi Note 7 is a radical upgrade over its predecessor. The phone is wrapped in a 2.5D curved glass chassis and has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The camera unit is aligned vertically in the top corner with a single LED flash unit below the camera. As mentioned, the phone comes with a 48MP sensor and is combined with a 5MP secondary sensor for portrait shots. Redmi claims the 48MP sensor helps take better shots in low-light as well as poster like HD photos. Developed by Samsung, the sensor has ultra-small 0.8um pixels, which cram together to deliver a total of 48 megapixels in the sensor.
When it comes to the front camera, the phone has a 13MP shooter featuring AI algorithms for face beautification and portrait mode. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. In China, the Redmi Note 7 is offered in 3GB, 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 32GB or 64GB storage options. Redmi may bring the same configuration options in India as well. There is a 4,000mAh battery, which is claimed to deliver one and a half day’s run time on a single charge.
In China, the Redmi Note 7 starts from 999 Yuan which roughly converts to Rs 10,000 for the 3GB+32GB variant. The 4GB+64GB variant is priced 1199 Yuan (approx Rs 12,500) and the 6GB+64GB variant retails for 1399 Yuan, which is approximately Rs 14,500). It remains to be seen whether the phones will launched in similar prices when they come to India. Apart from the Redmi Note 7, the company may also launch the Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Go in India.
