HIGHLIGHTS

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 comes in 6GB, 8GB and 10GB RAM models with up to 256GB of storage.

Xiaomi has made its Mi Mix 3 official in China in an event today. The company’s new flagship smartphone was already leaked in almost its entirety but there were still some questions that have been answered now. The Mi Mix 3 features a nearly bezel-less design, which is made possible by using a magnetic sliding mechanism that pulls the display down to reveal dual front cameras on the top, behind the device’s display. There are dual cameras on the back as well and the company had already confirmed that it can capture super slow motion video at 960 fps.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Specifications

The Mi Mix 3 features a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED HDR display and the company says it has a 93.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. As expected, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC and comes with the options to select from either 6GB, 8GB or 10GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. There’s no external memory card support and no 3.5mm audio jack either. It runs on MIUI 10 and is backed by a 3200 mAh battery, which supports both, fast wired charging via a Type-C port and 10W wireless charging.

In terms of optics, the Mi Mix 3 comes equipped with dual cameras on both the front and the rear. On the front is a 24 MP Sony IMX576 sensor with 1.8μm pixel size, which is coupled with a 2 MP sensor. The 24MP sensor on the front also supports pixel binning, which is combining four pixels into one for better images in low light conditions.

On the rear is a 12MP + 12 MP camera setup where the former is a Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 1.4μm pixel pitch that suppoprts dual Phase Detection Auto Focus. The secondary sensor on the rear is a telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture and 1.0µm pixel size. The company will launch a 5G variant of the phone early next year, so, we don’t have the first commercially available 5G phone yet.
