Redmi X listing

This is the probably the first mention of the Redmi X smartphone, and the “covers” on the device will be pulled off after the phone is launched. Though the phone is up for pre-order on the platform, in the description it is also advised that people should not place on order because the phone will not be delivered. “Xiaomi new product, brand new independent brand, test link, please do not place an order, the order will not be shipped, the details of the parameters are subject to the official website release information! ! !,” a Google translation of the description reads.

Redmi 7 images and teasers

Although it is not yet confirmed which Redmi smartphone will be launched on January 10, media publications are reporting that the smartphone could either be the Redmi 7 or the Redmi Pro 2. Several images have been leaked showing the design of the smartphone but there is no information available about what’s under the hood. However, it is confirmed that it will have a 48MP camera, thanks to leaked posters, and images shared by the company executives.

In the latest development, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has shared some images on Weibo showing the back panel of the smartphone. The images also reveal the the colours in which the smartphone is expected to launch. According to the images, the alleged Redmi 7 or the Redmi Pro 2 will be offered in three colours: black, blue and red. In the images, the latter two are seen having a gradient pattern.

The CEO also mentions “double-sided 2.5D glass”, which confirms that the upcoming Redmi phone will have a glass back. The same images were shared by Xiaomi Global Spokesperson Donovan Sung on Twitter. He also shared a teaser of the smartphone further confirming the 48MP AI Dual-Camera on the back. The image shows a device sporting a black colour, which is one of the confirmed colours of the upcoming Redmi smartphone.

Redmi is all set to launch its first phone as an independent brand at an event in China on January 10. Recently, a news report claimed that this device could feature a USB Type-C port. The images shared by both the executives show the phone with a charging port that looks like Type-C. This cannot be confirmed, but as a matter of fact, Jun had already thrown a question to his followers seeking their take on whether they would like a Type-C port on Redmi phones.
