Realme to launch new ‘U’ series smartphone powered by MediaTek Helio P70
Realme India took to Twitter to make an announcement in which it said that its new 'U' series smartphone will be the first to house MediaTek's Helio P70 chipset.
Since its split from Oppo in August, Realme has been bullish in the Indian market and has launched three phones in lat last three months, the Realme 2, the Realme 2 Pro and the Realme C1. The company has now announced that it will soon launch another phone that will be world’s first smartphone with the recently-launched MediaTek Helio P70 processor. Also, this phone will belong to a new series altogether, which Realme is calling the U-series. The company did not give out any more information about the new series and its launch date.
MediaTek's new Helio P70 chipset brings better AI processing with upgraded CPU and GPU for enhanced performance from its predecessor. If we go by the numbers, the successor to the MediaTek Helio P60 is claimed to deliver an improvement of 10 to 30 percent when performing AI-based tasks, and a 13 percent boost on general tasks. The new chip is manufactured on a 12nm process and comes with overclocked CPU and GPU. To handle AI tasks, the chip comes equipped with an AI Processing Unit (APU) that is clocked at 525MHz.
MediaTek also says that the Helio P70 supports an array of AI-based photo and video features like real-time beautification, scene detection and artificial reality (AR). It is claimed to deliver face detection with up to 90 percent accuracy. OEMs can either use a 32MP single camera or 24+16MP dual cameras when using the new SoC on their devices. Keeping this in mind, it is expected that the next Realme phone could belong to a mid-range segment and the company should take the maximum of the processor.
Since it has become a norm, the smartphone is expected to come with AI features in camera, and face detection technology. It could have dual-camera setup on the back panel and may come with single shooter on the front. When it comes to the display, the smartphone may sport a notch and given the company’s youth-centric approach, it could launch the device with designer back panel. All this is speculation and is based on the trends that we have seen in Realme smartphones. The specs are also hypothetical and are based on the features of the Helio P70 processor.
