OnePlus partners with McLaren, OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition expected to launch in India on December 12

In April this year, OnePlus partnered with Marvel Studios to launch the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition smartphone. Previously, OnePlus had joined the forces with Star Wars and launched OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition handset.

As the smartphone manufacturers tie-up with automobile brands to launch special edition of devices, OnePlus has announced its newest collaboration with automotive and technology company McLaren. “In a salute to speed”, the company may launch a McLaren Edition of the OnePlus 6T device on December 12. OnePlus coined a new tagline, “Unlock the Speed”, with the OnePlus 6T and on those lines, this tie-up makes much sense. The partnership incorporates both McLaren Automotive and McLaren Racing — one of the most successful teams in Formula 1.

“McLaren is renowned for innovation through technology and the fearless pursuit of better. OnePlus is similarly renowned for pushing the limits of performance and speed. The premium smartphone brand consistently delivers the fastest experience – from lightning-quick gaming and app experiences without lag to OnePlus Fast Charge technology which has set a new benchmark for quick-charging solutions, to the superfast Screen Unlock,” OnePlus said in a statement.

OnePlus CEO and Founder, Pete Lau says that McLaren and OnePlus “were born in a similar way – with a big dream to create something special. Today we unveil a true testament to innovation, a salute to speed.” For Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, OnePlus' brand is synonymous with speed and power – two values that McLaren likewise strives to deliver with every car we build. “Bringing together the inventive, pioneering spirit shared by both OnePlus and McLaren is a firm statement of intent to leverage our collective powers and break new ground for innovative ideas and technology,” Brown added.

OnePlus has been creatively collaborating with top brands and franchise since OnePlus 3T days. The company teamed up with Parisian retailer Colette to produce the OnePlus 3T Colette 20th Anniversary Edition. Later, OnePlus worked with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac to launch the OnePlus 5 JCC+Limited Edition “Callection” variant. Following the partnership trend, the Chinese tech company celebrated its anniversary in India by “joining forces” with Star Wars franchise (The Last Jedi) to launch OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition. The most recent collaboration was in April this year, when it announced a partnership with Marvel Studios to launch the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition smartphone.

(Recently, Huawei announced a Huawei Mate 20 Porsche Edition smartphone and Oppo released the Lamborghini Edition of its Find X smartphone.)
