HMD Global is rolling out the Android 9 Pie update for its China-exclusive Nokia X5 smartphone. As the phone is now receiving Android Pie update, its global variant, the Nokia 5.1 Plus is likely to receive the update as well. The Nokia X5 was launched earlier this year running Android 8.1 Oreo, and the Nokia 5.1 Plus was announced in August running the same flavour of Android. The news of the update being rolled out for the phone has been confirmed by Nokia on Weibo. The new patch is around 1467MB in size and is said to consume 2940MB of the device’s internal storage. It should be noted that while the Nokia 5.1 Plus is an Android One device running on stock OS, the Nokia X5 features a layer of customisation atop the Android OS.

Nokia X5/Nokia 5.1 Plus specifications

The Nokia X5 is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 platform (four Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.0GHz and an equal number of Cortex-A53 clocked at 2.0GHz). It features a 5.86-inch HD+ display (720×1520 resolution) with a 2.5D glass protection and 19:9 aspect ratio. On the back, the handset features a dual-camera setup that is aligned vertically and below them sits an LED flash. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the rear, along with the Nokia branding.

In terms of optics, the device sports a 13MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP secondary depth-sensing camera on the back. On the front, it comes equipped with an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. The phone is backed by a 3,060mAh battery. As mentioned earlier, the Nokia 5.1 Plus comes with the exact same specs, but runs stock Android OS. The phone was announced at a price of Rs 10,999 in India.
