It is believed that the next Nexus, which sources seem to suggest will be made by LG, will in fact be heavily based on the Optimus G, running a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor. There’s also word of 2GB of on board RAM, an 8MP rear camera, a 1280×768 True-High Definition IPS display and a non-removable battery. The highlight however, is that the phone will support wireless charging right out of the box. It seems to be the season of high-res screens, quad-core processors and wireless charging!
The new Nexus will ship with the next version of Android 4.2 (Key-Lime Pie) and Google is said to co-host the launch event for Android 4.2 along with LG. Even though the device will ship with Key-Lime Pie out of the box, it is essential to note that most current Android devices are still running on Gingerbread, which is a 2 generation old version of Android. The problem has occurred due to severe fragmentation and no real guidelines set forth by Google, which it not only realizes, but has also attempted to fix. New guidelines for hardware and custom UI skins have been set for all manufacturers so that all handsets will be compatible with Android 5 which is set to launch in 2013.

Google’s Nexus phones have been quite popular not just among the Android fanboys, but also amongst regular users and why wouldn’t it be? The Nexus is the first phone to receive Android OS update. Another feather in the Nexus cap is the fact that the OS isn’t tarnished by any custom UI skins, something that we have always found problematic.
