Lenovo launches LePhone S2 and K2, along with LePad S2005, S2007 and S2010

Lenovo has announced three new Android Gingerbread phones, and two new Honeycomb tablets for China. All of the devices run on Qualcomm chipsets, with the LePhone S2 the only single-core offering, and the only one with a launch price: RMB 2,990 (~$470). Availability details are as of yet unknown, though the 5-inch LePad S2005 tablet-phone is expected to hit retails shelves in China in 2 days.

The 3.8-Lenovo LePhone S2 (below) bears a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Scorpion CPU on the MSM8255 chipset, and runs on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread. Two versions will apparently be on offer – 1GB of RAM coupled with 16GB of inbuilt storage, or a cheaper 512MB/8GB variant. No expandable memory for either of them, however, 200GB of cloud storage is offered. The LePhone S2 comes with an 8MP camera capable of 720p HD video recording.

The 5-inch Lenovo LePad S2005 (below) is expected to be called the IdeaTab when it releases globally, and falls in the not so memorable category of a smartphone-tablet hybrid – a Dell Streak comparison is inevitable. The specs of the 9.9mm-thick phone aren’t bad – it has a dual-core 1.2GHz Scorpion CPU, coupled with 1GB of RAM, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, and a not so high-res (800×480) AMOLED screen running on LTPS technology, promising an extra wide 178-degree viewing angle. Storage details are still unclear. It comes with 5MP camera capable of 1080p HD video recording, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and reportedly has microUSB and microHDMI ports.

The Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread Lenovo LePhone K2 was announced shortly after, with no official pics floating around. Specs were revealed though, and the K2 should have a 4.3-inch IPS display, 1.5GHz dual-core CPU on the MSM8260, 1GB of RAM, and an 8MP with 1080p HD video recording.

The Lenovo LePad S2007 (above) and S2010 (below) are two 7-inch and 10-inch Honeycomb tablets running on the same dual-core 1.5GHz Scorpion processors, with gigabyte of RAM each, 1280×800 pixel IPS displays, 8MP rear cameras, with Wi-Fi, 3G, and Bluetooth connectivity. Form factors and batteries are the only differences, with LePad SS2007 9.7mm wide, weighing 360 grams and bearing a 3,780mAh battery. The LePad SS2010 is 9.9mm thick, and bears a 7,560 mAh battery.
