Apple is currently gearing up to host its annual developer conference, WWDC 2025, which is scheduled to kick off tonight. According to a new report, one of the interesting announcements could be a fresh design style called Liquid Glass, coming to iOS 26 and other Apple operating systems.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that this new interface design will bring shiny, transparent visuals (like glass) across various parts of Apple’s software, including tool bars, in-app interfaces and controls. “It’s part of a push to make Apple’s operating systems more cohesive — with a similar look across the whole lineup,” Gurman explained.

This change isn’t just about looks, it’s reportedly paving the way for new hardware. Apple is said to be working on a special iPhone model for 2027, which will mark the 20th iPhone anniversary. According to Gurman, the 2027 iPhone is internally called “Glasswing” and is expected to feature curved glass on all sides, slim bezels, and no visible cutouts on the screen. The name “Glasswing” is a nod to a butterfly with transparent wings.
The Liquid Glass interface is expected to be the standout announcement at this year’s developer conference. But while it’s sure to grab attention, it may also distract from a deeper issue: Apple is lagging behind in the AI race. WWDC isn’t expected to close that gap. Instead, Apple seems to be focusing on refining its operating systems, making them sleeker and more capable, even as competitors push ahead with more AI-driven innovations.

WWDC 2025 date and timings
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025 will take place from June 9 to June 13. The event’s keynote will begin at 10:30 PM IST, 1:00 PM EDT, 9:00 PM GST (Dubai), and 6:00 PM BST (UK).
