CES 2025, which is an annual tech summit, is currently taking place. During the same, Dell introduced a new rebranded version of its product lineup. With the new lineup, the company has replaced its longstanding XPS, Inspiron, Latitude, and Precision series. These have now been replaced by Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max lines. With this change, the company aims to make it easier for its customers to find a laptop or PC that fits their needs. However, the new rebranding is facing some criticism from industry experts. Some fans are also disappointed by it as they believe that the previous lineup had its own legacy.
SurveyBefore getting to that, let’s first see what the new Dell lineup has to offer.
New Dell lineup
As mentioned previously, the new lineup includes three series:
- Dell: Consumer-oriented laptops and PCs for general use, replacing Inspiron models.
- Dell Pro: Enterprise-focused devices are taking over from the Latitude series.
- Dell Pro Max: High-performance workstations, replacing Precision products.
Along with this, each product will include a size indicator. For eg: Dell 14, which will be a 14-inch laptop for general use. In addition to that, these laptops can also come with labels like “Plus” or “Premium” to denote performance tiers. For example, the Dell 14 Premium corresponds to the former XPS 14. This is pretty similar to how Apple labels its MacBook lineup, with the chipset names and sizes.
Reactions to the rebranding
The rebranding done by Dell has received mixed reactions. Longtime fans of the iconic XPS and Latitude series expressed disappointment, citing the legacy and recognition those names held. However, according to the company, these names align with the current generation of consumers who want clarity and simplicity when choosing the products.
