Twitter updates photo and video viewing in web interface
HIGHLIGHTS

With the new round of update, Twitter users can see larger photos and more videos from the third party services.

Twitter has rolled out new updates to improve the photos and videos management on the service’s web interface. The enhancements focus on photos and videos displayed on profiles and in search results.

First up is the photos, Twitter will now display larger photos. Users can now click a photo from a profile page or in search results to see a larger version of the picture without leaving the page. For videos, Twitter has now expanded the list of the services it supports. Media gallerias now include videos from Vine, YouTube, Vimeo, and other partners whose videos appear in expanded Tweets.

“What’s more, tweet pages now let you see more of the conversation related to a Tweet. Check out this Tweet from @jimmyfallon, asking users to tweet embarrasing stories, or this Tweet from @NickKristof, asking why there are so few female bosses. Scroll down to view more replies to the Tweet, and you can see replies to those replies too,” explains Twitter in a blog post.

The update from Twitter comes a time when the micro-blogging site is facing criticism for its new social video app Vine, which has been flooded with pornographic content. The company had to issue an apology for what it called ‘human error’ that allowed a pornographic video to appear as editor’s picks at the top of the home page of its new social video app Vine.
