Twitter now lets you share tweets via e-mail
Twitter has announced a new feature that allows users to e-mail tweets directly from their Twitter stream. Twitter says the new sharing feature will be available to all users in the coming weeks.
“You can email a Tweet to anyone, whether they use Twitter or not, right from your Twitter stream or from the details view of any Tweet,” says Twitter in a blog post.
“Just click on the ‘More’ icon next to the reply, retweet and favorite buttons in order to email a Tweet to anyone you know. You can add your own comment, and we’ll send an email with your comment and the Tweet together. Just like that.”
It’s notable that the new sharing feature has already been available for users via third party Twitter apps. The function is quite similar to what TweetDeck and Hootsuite have had a while.
Twitter has of late stepped up its efforts to popularise its services in view of escalating competition with Facebook and other social networking websites. The micro-blogging website has also focussed on mainstream users. Twitter says the new feature will help users interact with users who aren’t on Twitter yet such as parents or your college roommates.
Twitter recently rolled out quite a few new features such as Instagram-like photo filters and an updated TweetDeck and newsletter. The company is also working on a tool that will allow users to download all their old tweets. Read more about Twitter’s forthcoming feature here.
