Today's Google Doodle celebrates Freudian psychiatrist Hermann Rorschach's 129th birthday with an interactive doodle.
Google doodle today celebrates noted Freudian psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, Hermann Rorschach’s 129th birthday. Rorschach is best known for inventing a projective test known as the Rorschach inkblot test.
The interactive Google doodle honoring Hermann Rorschach features a sketch of Hermann Rorschach sitting and making notes. The doodle shows different inkblot patterns that can be browsed by clicking on them or on the navigation array keys. It also has a ‘Share what you see button’ that allows you to share your interpretation of the inkblot on Google , Facebook and Twitter with your friends.
Hermann Rorschach was born on November 8, 1884 in Zurich, Switzerland. Since his school days he was fond of klecksography, the art of making inkblots. He later studied under eminent psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler. Under his guidance he started psychoanalysis through inkblots by analysing response of school children to inkblots. He wrote a book in 1921, called Psychodiagnostik which is said to be the basis of the inkblot test. The Freudian psychologist studied and researched 300 mental patients and 100 control subjects for the book. Rorschach died at the age of 37 on April 1, 1922.
Google recently celebrated noted scientist CV Raman’s 125th birth anniversary. The doodle displays Raman effect with light rays emitting from a source. Raman made significant contributions to science during his lifetime. He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 for “for his work on the scattering of light and for the discovery of the Raman effect”. Dr. CV Raman became the second Indian after Rabindra Nath Tagore to win the Nobel Prize.
