OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Health earlier this year. At the time, the feature was available only through a waitlist. Now, the company has finally started rolling it out to users. However, there is one catch. Many users still cannot access ChatGPT Health. That is because the feature is currently available only in the US. In a blogpost, OpenAI said ChatGPT Health is rolling out to logged-in users aged 18 or older in the US. It is available on the web and iOS app. The feature is supported across Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. So, users outside the US will have to wait for a wider rollout.
SurveyChatGPT Health lets users connect their personal health information with ChatGPT. With permission, ChatGPT can access data from Apple Health, supported US hospital records, One Medical and Function Health. This helps ChatGPT answer questions using a user’s own health data instead of only giving general information.
According to OpenAI, more than 300 million people ask ChatGPT health-related questions every week. Many people use it to understand lab reports, doctor’s notes, medicines, or upcoming appointments. The company says this information is often spread across different apps and websites. ChatGPT Health brings it together in one place.
Users can ask ChatGPT to compare new lab results with older reports. They can also ask what has changed since their last doctor’s visit. The chatbot can also explain how sleep, workouts, and daily activity may be affecting their health.
“ChatGPT can still make mistakes and does not replace the care and judgment of qualified medical professionals. We encourage people to verify important information and discuss medical decisions with their healthcare provider,” the company explained.

The company also said that privacy is a key part of the feature. OpenAI says connected medical records, Apple Health data, and chats that use this information are not used to train its AI models or target ads. Users decide when ChatGPT can access their health information. They can also disconnect their accounts whenever they want. Synced health data will be deleted from OpenAI’s systems within 30 days after an account is removed.
Eligible users can open the Health section in ChatGPT and connect their accounts. Once the data is synced, they can ask health questions as usual. They can also type @Health in a prompt to tell ChatGPT to use their connected health information.
