In a video, Instagram’s Adam Mosseri showed how Meta’s AI can translate and dub Reels into various languages in real time. Mosseri switched languages mid-sentence, with his voice seamlessly dubbed in Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese, showing how natural the translations sound. The AI dubbing tool works by recreating a creator’s voice and tone while translating their speech into the desired language. It includes an optional lip sync feature, which matches the creator’s mouth movements to the translated audio for a more immersive experience.

During the upload process, creators who are eligible to use Meta AI, typically those with public accounts or over 1,000 followers in supported regions, see a translation option. They can simply select “Translate your voice with Meta AI”, select their target language, preview the results, and publish.

To ensure transparency, Meta adds the label Translated with Meta AI to each translated video. Users can even return to the original version by selecting the three-dot menu > Audio and Language > Do not translate.

Meanwhile, Instagram has launched an interactive Map feature in India, allowing users to share and discover location-based posts, Reels, and Stories. The feature enables selective location sharing with friends, parental controls for teens, and improved privacy indicators. Users can also find nearby content on the Map for 24 hours, combining real-time discovery with privacy control.
