WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature which will allow the users to make changes to their Status updates with a breeze. According to the WaBetaInfo report, the users will now be able to edit captions even after a Status has been posted. It must be noted that the feature is currently under development and was spotted in a recent Android beta version of the messaging app.
So far, WhatsApp users can add captions to photos and videos shared as Status updates, but any mistake in the caption requires deleting the entire Status and uploading it again. The upcoming feature aims to remove that inconvenience by introducing a post-publication editing option.
As per the details uncovered in the latest beta version, users will be able to modify a Status caption within a limited time after sharing it. The reported editing window is expected to be 15 minutes, giving users enough time to fix typos, incorrect details, or minor mistakes without having to repost the update.

The change is expected to improve the overall Status experience, especially for users who frequently share photos, videos, or event updates. Once a caption is edited, the updated version will be visible to recipients using a compatible version of WhatsApp. The recent beta versions have also hinted at deeper integration of Status updates within the Chats tab, potentially making them more visible without requiring users to switch to the Updates section.
However, it must be noted that the caption editing feature is currently being tested internally and has not yet been released to beta testers. WhatsApp has also not shared a timeline for its wider rollout, but the feature is expected to arrive in a future beta update before becoming available to all users.
