WhatsApp has introduced a new Guest Calling feature that allows people to join WhatsApp calls even if they do not have an account on the platform. The feature is designed to make it easier for users to connect with friends, colleagues, classmates and others without asking them to install the app or create an account. Guest calls are free and protected by end-to-end encryption. However, guests must get approval from the call host before joining a conversation. Keep reading to know how the feature works and how to use it.
With Guest Calling, WhatsApp users can invite people to audio or video calls by sharing a call link. The invited guests can open the link in a web browser on their computer, enter their name and request to join the call. They do not need a WhatsApp account to join the call.
Guests are placed in a waiting room until the host approves their request. The host can also remove guests from the call whenever needed.
The feature also limits what guests can do during a conversation. They cannot see the phone numbers of other participants, send messages or directly invite additional people to the call.
Guest Calling supports both one-to-one and group conversations. Group calls can include up to 32 participants. Guests can also use key calling tools, including screen sharing on a computer. They can react with emojis, such as a thumbs-up or a heart, and raise their hand to indicate that they want to speak.

To start a guest call on WhatsApp, follow these steps:
Once approved, guests can join the call. The host will be in control of who can enter and stay in the conversation.
WhatsApp has also announced plans to introduce calendar integrations later this year. The feature will allow users to create WhatsApp call links directly from their Google or Outlook calendars.
Users will need to install the WhatsApp plugin, connect their account and add a call link to a calendar invitation. This will allow invited participants to join a scheduled call, regardless of whether they have a WhatsApp account.
The new features are part of WhatsApp’s broader effort to improve its calling experience and make it easier for people to connect across different devices and platforms.
