Instagram brings new DM features: Message translation, music sharing and more

Instagram has introduced a series of new features for the direct messages (DMs) in order to enhance the user experience. With a new update, the Meta-owned social media platform has introduced new features like message translation tool, the ability to schedule messages, and new ways to share music without even leaving the chat window. Here’s everything about the new DM features.

1. Message Translation

Much anticipated feature which will allow users to translate messages they receive with their preferred languages within the app. However, the translated messages will be shared with Meta for processing

2. Message scheduling

The platform will now allow users to schedule messages making it easier to plan and send messages at specific times. All the user needs to do is hold down the send button and select the preferred time and date to send the message.

3. Pinning Messages

Much like WhatsApp, Instagram will also allow users to pin three chats on the DM list. Additionally, the users can pin individual messages, making it easier to access important information. To do so, the user will have to hold down the message and select pin option.

4. Sharing Music in DMs

Instagram now allows the users to share a 30 second preview of the song with their friends in the chat window. The users can share it on both individual and group chats. To do so, the users can browse Instagram’s music library through the sticker tray and share song snippets with ease.

5. Personalised QR codes for groups

The platform now allows users to create a QR code for group users. The other users can scan the code and instantly join the chat.
