Google+ iPhone app gets a facelift, Android update on its way

Google has released an updated version of its Google iPhone app, days after the social networking site received a major facelift.

Google says the update brings better fonts, full-bleed photos and videos and more intuitive home screen. The updated version of the Google iPhone app is said to be easier to navigate and visually more appealing.

“To be clear, we’re not interested in a mobile or social experience that’s just smaller,” Vic Gundotra, senior vice president of Google’s social business, wrote in a blog post. “We’re embracing the sensor-rich smartphone (with its touchable screen and high-density display), and transforming Google into something more intimate, and more expressive. Today’s new iPhone app is an important step in this direction—toward a simpler, more beautiful Google.”

Apart from making the app visually more attractive, Google has also paid attention to the fun and performance parts. The “ 1” button has been shifted to the top of streams, helping users to recommend posts much more ease.

Google will be soon rolling out an updated version of the Google Android app. According to Gundotra, the updated version of the Android app will feature a few “more additional surprises”.

Last month, Google updated Google , giving  major facelift and incorporating a number of new features such as new Explore and Profile pages. The updated Google features static icons, and a dynamic ribbon, which can be used to bookmark and manage applications, perform quick-actions, and more. To know more, read our previous coverage.
