Video experience

In order to test video experience, Opensignal measured the average video experience of its users on 3G and 4G networks for each operator. These calculations are said to take into account the picture quality, video loading time and stall rate. It then gives each operator a score on a scale of 0-100. Airtel managed to get a score of 53. By comparison, the closest competitor managed a score of 48.2. Opensignal also noted that Airtel may increase its score to over 55 in its next report.

Download speed experience

When it came to calculating the average download speed experience, Opensignal says that it didn’t just factor in 3G and 4G speeds, but also the availability of each network technology. In the report, it noted that operators with lower 4G availability tended to have a lower download speed experience as their customers spent more time connected to 3G networks. Airtel won this category with a speed score of 9.6Mbps. By comparison, the closest competitor had a speed score of 7.9Mbps. Not only that, but Opensignal notes that when they split the download speeds by technology, Airtel still managed to secure a lead is 4G download speed experience, with users seeing an average download speed of 10Mbps.

Judging by the report, Airtel makes for the best network when it comes to watching video. Not only that, but the top marks in download speeds mean that you also have the option of downloading your videos, if you so wish to.
